Clay planters are a staple in almost every garden. Not only do they easily blend in with your garden décor to create an easy palatte, but they also come in a wide range of colors, sizes and textures.

Clay prices can range from inexpensive to high end/expensive. The more expensive clay pots are usually hand made with many ornate details and most often one of a kind pieces.

The difference between clay and terracotta planters is not in the materials (they are the same) but in the firing process.
Clay is baked at a lower temperature than terracotta.

Clay pots will make a colorful addition to your garden because there is no limit to the hues available. There are two basic types of clay planters, which is glazed and unglazed.

Unglazed Clay Planters

The unglazed clay pots tend to have more natural and muted, earthier tones. It is important to note that the unglazed types will be more porous to water. They also allow air to freely pass through them which can cause drying out during hot weather.

Conversely, during cold weather, any water that is retained in an unglazed pot will have a higher chance of freezing during zero or near zero degree temperatures. Great care is needed to protect clay pots from cold and harsh weather.

It is highly recommended that they be brought in or covered thoroughly when temperatures drop.

Glazed Clay Planters

Glazed pots come in countless different colors. The glazing effect also provides some extra protection from freezing in winter. The water is much less likely to move as freely as in an unglazed pot.

Either way, due to the porous nature of all clay pots, it is still best to store them empty during winter or cover them up.
Glazed clay planters offer a variety of color and are very pleasing to the eye when combined with flowers of the opposite color spectrum.

All clay pots are available in abundance and offer color, striking shapes and also have lovely ornate designs that can be used to your advantage while landscaping. Find more Container garden planters for sale.
